Cafe Coyote, San Diego CA

We were heading into downtown (San Diego) looking for breakfast, and for some reason or another, we changed our minds and went to Old Town instead. I think it was because I mentioned I wanted to try out a restaurant called the Creole Cafe. The Creole Cafe didn't open until 11:30 am, so we went elsewhere looking for breakfast.

After checking out the breakfast menu of a restaurant next door, we opted for the Cafe Coyote instead. We have been to the Cafe Coyote at least one time, and I myself several more times, but none of those times did we stopped in for breakfast.

Old Town can be touristy but it has this Old World charm that appeals to me and in what better place to be anonymous than in a place full of tourists? escaping via anonymity.

We were seated promptly in the patio area. Even at 9:30 in the morning, there was a gentleman with his guitar going from table to table playing for the guests. We opted for a breakfast quesadilla, a blueberry muffin, a glass of mimosa and a glass of orange juice. Mimosa is a popular drink in Southern California made up of orange juice and champagne.

Breakfast/brunch on the week-end has quickly become my favorite meal of the day and somehow a glass of champagne of some sort has become a part of it, perhaps to toast to another much needed week-end before the drudgery of the week-day routines returns.

Here's to the week-ends of the world!!!
